Yevgeny Prigozhin's mobile phone was found next to the body of one of the victims on the plane that crashed in Russia yesterday, in which the founder of the Wagner Group is said to have died, a Wagner political source told Al Jazeera.
Meanwhile, the Wagner group today called on its mercenaries not to do "anything stupid".
"Brothers! At the moment we await information from our commanders. Don't jump to conclusions! We are all in control of our emotions now, but we must maintain control. Don't do anything stupid..." said one. message posted on the Telegram Group channel.
Meanwhile, Wagner blamed Moscow for the death of their leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, calling him a "traitor". Although the cause of the plane crash is still unclear, it is said to have come from a bomb hidden inside a box of expensive wines on board the plane. And for this reason, Wagner has directly blamed the Kremlin for the murder of their leader.
"If the information that Prigozhin is dead is confirmed, we will organize a new march for justice in Moscow," they said, referring to the June "coup".
In a video released by British media, gunmen claiming to be Wagner fighters warn that nothing is over.
