Generals and admirals urgently gathered, what to expect from the mysterious

This makes it all the more remarkable that Hegseth has instructed officers to appear in person and leave their posts around the world for what will essentially be a major speech...

The mysterious meeting between US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and hundreds of generals and admirals, which caused confusion and concern in the military, appears to be taking shape.

According to CNN, which cites six people familiar with the plan, Hegseth is expected to present his vision for a radically transformed US military at the meeting in Virginia.

The meeting is intended to be a motivational event, where Hegseth will emphasize the importance of the "warrior ethos" and introduce new standards for military personnel. He will outline new standards of readiness, fitness, and appearance that officers are expected to follow and enforce.

"It's about getting the horses in the stable and getting them in good shape," a defense official familiar with the planning told CNN.

Apparently, Hegseth's team plans to record the speech and release it later. The White House wants to further reinforce the message, an administration official confirmed. "This is intended to be a show of force of what the new military looks like now under the president," a White House official explained.

What's surprising is that, as things stand, there are no major national security announcements planned. This makes it even more remarkable that Hegseth has instructed officers to appear in person and leave their posts around the world for what will essentially be a major speech.

A weapons demonstration originally proposed by President Trump is also not planned. Trump himself is not expected to attend Tuesday's meeting.

War Minister Hegseth and his fight against the "smart" army

The initiative was initiated by Hegseth himself who has repeatedly expressed his disdain for generals and flag officers in recent years.

Since taking office, he has already dismissed a number of high-ranking officers and in May ordered a reduction in the number of four-star generals and admirals by at least 20 percent. It was made clear to the invited officers that if they did not attend, they would need a very compelling reason for their absence.

The unprecedented meeting underscores Hegseth's radical restructuring of the Pentagon, which has now been renamed the "War Department," and his efforts to create a new, more conservative military culture. / Adapted Pamphlet /
