Donald Trump and Keir Starmer have met during the US President's historic state visit to the United Kingdom, as a body language expert has analysed key data that reveals the truth about the relationship between the two men.
Darren Stanton carefully analyzed footage from Starmer's meeting with Trump, interpreting every moment, from the handshake, the strong eye contact to the sudden clash.
The meeting comes at a time when Starmer has been left reeling after being hit by crisis after crisis from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal to the resignation of his deputy prime minister. But his seemingly close friendship with the Don could be a major boost for the Labour government, with new trade deals being signed.
Leading body language analyst Stanton shared what he thought about the physical behavior of the two leaders at the meeting.
He also detailed Trump's arsenal of power plays that he typically uses against minor world leaders, before revealing whether or not the US President used his tactics against Sir Keir.
Noting first impressions, Stanton told The Sun: "they had this brief handshake, some mutual touching."
"When they shook hands, Trump held Starmer's elbow and then, as they walked in the door, Starmer put his hand on Trump's shoulder," the expert explains.
He explained that “these are all gestures of authenticity, mutual respect and understanding.”
The expert pointed out how Trump did not appear to be using any of his usual power play tactics, which he so often uses against other heads of state.
"In previous meetings with other politicians, we've seen this cutting handshake where he [Trump] pulls the politician towards him to test his accountability," Stanton explained.
He then adds, "We didn't see any of the mind games that Trump usually plays with people, where he squeezes people's hands, or pulls them towards him and gives them some firm pats."
The expert indicated that there was no disdain for Starmer from Trump, which the President sometimes displays with a half-smile.
Stanton said he did not see any aggressive gestures as Trump is "showing the utmost respect to the King and Keir Starmer."
Speculating on why this might be the case, the psychology specialist said that "they both know the importance of this phase going well."
The Prime Minister and Trump have an unusual friendship, with the President having previously called Sir Keir a "good man" with a "beautiful accent".
