Another person has been arrested by French authorities for the theft at the Louvre Museum on October 19.
According to Bfm TV, the suspect was arrested in Paris on Wednesday evening and is in custody, and is suspected of being present at the museum when the robbery occurred.
Two others were arrested on October 26, accused of being part of a four-person gang that carried out the robbery, and are known to the local authorities for burglary. One of them was caught trying to flee the country. Both have admitted involvement in the incident.
On October 19, thieves used a moving elevator to climb into the Museum and broke the window leading to the Apollo Gallery, the museum's showcase for the French Crown Jewels, and stole royal treasures belonging to several French sovereigns, including Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III. The robbers managed to take 8 pieces of jewelry, the jewels of Queen Marie-Amélie, and Marie-Louise's pendants and earrings, for an estimated loss of 88 million euros.
