Greece is turning to modern technology to fight fires as flames continue to rage.
The Greek Prime Minister, Mitsotakis, has stated that the deadly fires are mainly the result of climate change, but there are other causes as well.
The latest fire broke out in the northeastern region of Evros on Friday, the 14th day of fires that have killed at least 20 people. More than 600 firefighters have been called to battle the blaze in Greece's forests.
Prime Minister Mitsotakis cited a severe heat wave in July, the longest in Greece in recent years, and then extremely strong winds as bad circumstances.
He said authorities have initiated steps to purchase more than 100 drones to monitor forest fires in real time. Installation of temperature sensors at archaeological sites and in endangered forests is also planned, while about 500 forestry scientists and another 1,000 firefighters will soon be hired, Mitsotakis said.
