Israel retaliates, warplanes strike the head of Hamas intelligence

The Israeli Air Force says its warplanes have struck a compound belonging to the head of the Intelligence Department of the terrorist organization Hamas.

Israeli jets have struck a number of targets in the Gaza Strip since militants crossed into Israeli territory on Saturday.

According to the BBC News correspondent in Gaza, the sounds of explosions resulting from the attacks are continuous.

Palestinian authorities say more than 250 people have been killed.
