The Lebanese group Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for targeting three Israeli sites in an area known as Shebaa Farms using various rockets and artillery.
Hezbollah stated that the attack using "a large number of rockets and shells" was in solidarity with the "Palestinian resistance". He also said that Israeli positions were hit directly.
The Israeli army retaliated by firing into southern Lebanese areas. The Israeli military said it shelled the areas where the fire came from on the Lebanese side of the border.
Israel announced that a drone hit a Hezbollah post, an area in Shebaa. He has held the Shebaa Farms, a 39 square km patch of land, since 1967. Both Syria and Lebanon claim that the Shebaa Farms are Lebanese.
Hezbollah, which controls southern Lebanon, announced yesterday that it was in "direct contact" with the leaders of Palestinian "resistance" groups and that it saw Palestinian attacks on Israel as a "decisive response to Israel's continued occupation and a message to those who demand normalization with Israel".
