Different History/ What would have happened if Hitler had won World War II?

What if Adolf Hitler had won World War II? The question is not new, but now historical sources reveal with disturbing clarity that the leader of the Third Reich had a dark vision not only for Europe, but also for the United States.

Although he never planned a direct military invasion of America, his Nazi views, conversations, and secret plans indicate that the United States would have become a key sphere of influence, or even purgation, after European victory.

Hitler saw the US as a future enemy

As early as the late 1920s, in then-unpublished fragments of "Mein Kampf," Hitler wrote that the United States was in a phase of expansionism and sought to prevent European unification in order to dominate the world.

His thinking was based on the doctrine of Lebensraum "living space" for the German race. In 1941, in a meeting with Japanese ambassador Hiroshi Oshima, he claimed that the US and Britain were attacking the sphere of influence of the "Aryans" and that Germany and Japan "must exterminate them together".

According to documents found at the Library and Archives of Canada, the Nazis had compiled statistics on the Jewish population of the US and Canada, something that shows the early foundations for the future genocide.

Although there is no documented operational plan, the goal is clear: The Holocaust would not be confined to Europe. As historian Michael Kent puts it, “The Holocaust was not just European, it simply did not have time to spread.”

The prospect of an alliance with Britain against America

Even though the Nazis were fighting Britain, Hitler had an obsessive hope that after his victory, Britain would join with Germany against the United States. In 1941, he is said to have said: "I will not live to see it, but Germany and England will unite against America". A year later, he predicted that "the British army will fight alongside the German army to drive the Americans out of Iceland".

Hollywood as a tool of influence and control

The American film industry held a special place in Hitler's mind. He was an avid cinematographer and understood the power of propaganda through cinema.

Before the war, some Hollywood studios collaborated with Nazi authorities, deleting scenes that offended Berlin and excluding Jewish directors. Had Hitler won, he would likely have imposed strict censorship, using the entertainment industry to spread Nazi ideals to a submissive American audience.

Plans for geopolitical upheaval from within

Instead of conquest, the Third Reich would seek long-term subversion. Pro-Nazi organizations, such as the German-American Bund, had carried out significant activity in the United States before the war, but were viewed with suspicion even by Germans themselves.

The Reich considered them "graphic" and would likely sideline them in the event of victory. At the same time, there are indications, although unconfirmed, that the Nazis attempted to assimilate Native American populations, considering some races to be related to the Aryans.

One of the strangest cases involves the so-called "Red Chief," who was eventually revealed to be a white lawyer from Oregon with ties to pro-Nazi propaganda.

From Admiration to Contempt: Hitler's Racial Ideology for America

In his early writings, Hitler saw the United States as an example where "Nordic" Europeans had maintained their racial purity and expressed appreciation for American immigration laws.

Gradually, however, this appreciation turned to contempt. He now considered America weakened by racial mixture and cultural diversity - elements that, according to his ideology, were causes of collapse.

However, he recognized its industrial strength and economic viability - which is why he insisted that in the long run, America needed to be neutralized.

Military realism versus geography

Although he had envisioned America as a future enemy, Hitler did not believe it could be conquered militarily. The vast distance, the superior weaponry of the American navy, and the country's geographical size made this idea unrealistic.

In his rhetoric, he even considered it so impossible that he compared it to "the Nazis landing on the moon". And yet, German bases in the Atlantic were being reinforced precisely to prepare for the next phase of the global conflict.

If Germany had won World War II, the United States wouldn't have become a German protectorate with tanks on the streets. But it would have been the next big target.

Armed with propaganda, purges, undermining of internal groups, and ideological infiltration, the Reich would attempt to transform North America into a new ideological pole or a new Germany across the Atlantic. All this, with the Holocaust looming as a shadow over two continents.
