The Italian parliament erupted in laughter this afternoon as King Charles delivered his speech before the two chambers.
The moment that caused humor in the Parliament hall was caused by an incident when the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, thinking that King Charles had finished his speech, intervened, thanking him, while the deputies stood up and applauded.
But the King had not actually finished his speech and was confused by what was happening.
However, he calmly grasped the situation quickly and humorously said, "I'm almost done." This caused laughter in the hall.
King Charles and Queen Camilla, 77, were enjoying the third day of their four-day visit to Italy - which included a meeting with the country's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The monarch's speech warned that peace "must never be taken for granted."
The King was accidentally cut off during his speech to both houses of Italy's Parliament during his state visit. https://t.co/rOz8LPheMy pic.twitter.com/i6DlZeOAbn
