
Iran's Foreign Ministry has issued harsh statements in recent hours, accusing the United States of "piracy" against Iranian ships and demanding an immediate agreement to end the current conflict, but imposing strong conditions that reflect Tehran's maximalist position.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has denounced the "illegal blockade" of US forces on Iranian ports, in response to Iran's effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
"This is open piracy in international waters," the statement said, stressing that the US actions violate freedom of navigation and the global oil economy.
Iran insists it is ready for "serious and good faith" negotiations, but at the same time expresses "serious and reasonable suspicion" of the United States.
This suspicion comes after Washington and Tel Aviv launched coordinated attacks in late February 2026 even though the parties were at the negotiating table.
