Iran strikes another US diplomatic compound
Iran has intensified its attacks on American interests in the Middle East, expanding its targets beyond direct conflict zones.
According to Reuters, citing eyewitnesses, smoke was seen rising near the US Consulate in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after several explosions were heard in the area. There is no official confirmation yet on the extent of damage or casualties. The attack is suspected to have been carried out by drone.
The attack in Dubai comes just a day after the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was hit, causing material damage to the diplomatic compound but no reports of injuries.
In this climate of escalation, the United States has closed its embassy in Beirut "until further notice," citing regional tensions and the risk to the safety of diplomatic personnel. The decision was made public by the American mission itself.
The US State Department has advised American citizens to avoid travel and, where possible, to leave high-risk areas, amid recent attacks on American interests.
The strikes on American facilities come after Israel and the United States launched deadly attacks on targets in Iran on Saturday, sharply escalating tensions. Tehran has said it will continue to strike American interests in the region as part of its response.
The situation remains tense, with increased security measures at American diplomatic missions throughout the Middle East.
