Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the Strait of Hormuz has been fully opened to all commercial ships for the remainder of the ceasefire. He stressed that this decision is in full accordance with the ceasefire announced between Israel and Lebanon.
"In accordance with the ceasefire in Lebanon, passage for all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is declared fully open for the remaining period of the ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by the Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran ," Araghchi wrote on the X platform.
This announcement comes after the Strait of Hormuz remained closed for several days during the recent regional tension.

Recall that the Strait of Hormuz was closed in early March 2026, more specifically around March 2-4, 2026, following a major escalation in the conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran. Iran, through the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), declared the strait closed to ships bound for the United States, Israel, and their Western allies, in response to Israeli and American military attacks on Iranian interests, including attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon.
This measure was used as a strategic pressure and economic weapon by Tehran to counter military actions against its regional allies. The strait remained effectively closed or with extremely low traffic for about 45 days, although there were some brief attempts to open it during temporary ceasefires.
