A senior Iranian lawmaker has warned the United States that any attempt to block Iran's ports will face a strong military response.
According to Iranian state television Press TV, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security, declared that any US Navy ship that tries to enforce a blockade "will be sent to the bottom of the sea."
He described US President Donald Trump's threat to block Iranian ports as propaganda without military basis. According to Boroujerd, the United States has "no real capability" to implement such an action.
The Iranian official also added that such an operation would not enjoy the support of NATO allies, questioning the feasibility of an international blockade on Iran.
