Iran takes control of Hormuz: Over 30 ships passed with permission from the

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had allowed more than 30 ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most strategic shipping lanes, in the past 24 hours.

According to the Iranian state news agency Fars, the IRGC announced that 33 ships, including oil tankers, container ships and other commercial vessels, have passed through the strait after receiving authorization and security protection from the Iranian navy.

"Over the past 24 hours, 33 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz following coordination and security by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy," Fars reported, citing the IRGC.

The statement comes shortly after a senior Iranian source told CNN that the waterway remains open, but stressed that any crossing must be coordinated with Iranian authorities to ensure the safety of transit.

CNN notes that it has not been able to independently verify Tehran's claim. Data from maritime intelligence company MarineTraffic shows that several ships have passed through the strait over the past day, but traffic remains below pre-conflict levels.

US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the Strait of Hormuz "will be opened" as part of a broader deal between the US and Iran, although he did not clarify whether this would mean the full restoration of free navigation as before the recent tensions.

Meanwhile, the semi-official Iranian Tasnim news agency reported that the strait "will not return to its pre-war status," stressing that Tehran will continue to exercise sovereignty over this strategic corridor.

According to state broadcaster IRIB, around 240 ships are currently waiting to receive Iranian permission to enter the Strait of Hormuz.
