Khamenei and Trump

According to a Fox News report, Iran is facing a rapidly escalating crisis as nationwide protests enter their tenth day, with demonstrators reportedly taking control of two cities and openly challenging the regime. Protesters in the western cities of Abdanan and Malekshahi (Ilam province) reportedly forced security forces to retreat, celebrating in the streets and chanting slogans such as “Death to Khamenei,” according to the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

Amid the unrest, Iranian protesters issued a direct appeal to former US President Donald Trump. A message shared on the X platform showed a woman holding a banner reading: “Trump, symbol of peace. Don’t let them kill us.” The appeal came at a time when human rights groups reported a rising death toll and mass arrests.

The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported at least 29 deaths and over 1,200 arrests, as well as an intensification of repression, including the use of plastic bullet weapons, tear gas, and direct attacks on demonstrators.

Ali Safavi of the NCRI told Fox News Digital that a major psychological shift had occurred, noting that fear had “changed sides” as protesters forced regime forces to retreat. Maryam Rajavi, president-elect of the NCRI, also congratulated protesters in Abdanan and Malekshahi, stating that they had repelled the oppressive forces of the regime.

Protests, strikes and street rallies were reported in dozens of cities in several provinces. In Ilam, witnesses and human rights organizations said security forces used tear gas inside Imam Khomeini Hospital while trying to arrest injured protesters. Amnesty International condemned the incident, stressing that attacking a hospital where injured protesters were seeking treatment constituted a violation of international law. Similar reports came from Tehran, where security forces reportedly entered Sina Hospital, spreading fear among patients and their families.

As Fox News previously reported, the unrest is being fueled by a combination of economic collapse and political anger. What began as labor strikes and shopkeeper protests against inflation and currency devaluation has morphed into widespread street demonstrations and student protests. Parts of Tehran's Grand Bazaar and major shopping malls in Mashhad are reportedly closed.

Meanwhile, US Senator Lindsey Graham warned the Iranian leadership that continued violence against protesters could have serious consequences, following Trump's statement that the United States is "on full alert" in the face of escalating nationwide unrest.
