Iran 'softens' with Persian Gulf countries: We will not attack you
Masoud Pezeshkian

Amid the escalation of the conflict with the US and Israel, President Masoud Pezeshkian changes his stance towards the countries of the region.

Iran has declared that it will no longer launch attacks on neighboring countries and does not seek to invade them. President Masoud Pezeshkian announced the decision during a televised address to the Persian Gulf countries.

Pezeshkian said Iran respects the sovereignty of regional states and apologized for the tensions that have arisen. He explained that the Interim Leadership Council adopted a decision prohibiting missile attacks on regional countries, except in the case of an attack on Iran from their territory.

The statement comes as the military clash between Iran on one side and the US and Israel on the other has entered its second week. US President Donald Trump has demanded Tehran's unconditional surrender. At the same time, Israel continues military operations against Iranian targets and has expanded operations in Lebanon. The United Nations warns of the risk of a humanitarian crisis in that country.

Rocket launches were reported toward Israel on Saturday morning. The Israeli military said it had identified missiles launched from Iranian territory and activated air defense systems. Following this, Israeli forces launched a series of strikes on infrastructure in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Washington and Tel Aviv present their operations as preventive measures aimed at Iran's uranium enrichment program and ballistic missile development. Tehran insists its nuclear program is civilian in nature and considers attacks on its territory unprovoked.

Russian authorities condemned the US and Israeli military operations and described them as planned aggression.

According to Iran's representative to the UN, the recent attacks have caused over 1,300 civilian casualties in Iran and thousands more injuries. Iranian retaliation has caused 11 deaths in Israel, while at least six members of the US forces have also been killed in the clashes.
