Daniel Levy, president of the US/Middle East Project and former Israeli negotiator, has commented on the 'lack' of Israeli leadership and the abandonment of the universal "never again" message.
Levy said that Israel currently lacks leadership and has abandoned traditional Jewish postulates.
"I don't know how there can be such an abandonment of what I understand to be universal messages: never again," he asserted.
He added that what the Israeli authorities are doing are very dangerous actions for the Jews themselves.
"If you don't understand someone else's suffering and pain, you are in a very dangerous position because you are denying someone else the recognition of your sacrifice," Levy emphasized.
Levy also said that instrumentalizing Jewish suffering is not a good thing and that it has consequences.
"Instrumentalizing it and wrapping it in the universal mantle of victimization is not the right thing and does not bring anything good ," continued Levy.
This week, the Israeli military expanded air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has been under relentless airstrikes since the Palestinian group Hamas launched an attack on Israel on October 7.
The death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza has risen to 8,525, including 3,542 children and 2,187 women, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced. More than 1,538 Israelis were killed in the conflict.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed growing calls for a ceasefire, saying it would be a "surrender" to Hamas.
