Israel has bombed Al-Azhar University in Gaza, according to a video posted on Platform X by Palestinian Deputy Foreign Minister Amal Jadou.

The bombing happened on Saturday morning, according to Al Jazeera's correspondent.

Meanwhile, an Israeli drone fired a missile at the home of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Gaza, which is outside the enclave.

There is no information if any members of his family were in the house at the time of the attack.

Haniyeh has been outside the Gaza Strip since 2019, moving between Turkey and Qatar.

Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Washington to demand a cease-fire in Gaza and strongly opposed the support provided to Israel by President Joe Biden, defined in slogans as "Genocide Joe".

"Free, free Palestine" and "An immediate end to the siege of Gaza," chanted the demonstrators, who targeted the president chanting "Biden, Biden you can't hide, you signed the genocide" and "We say no, Genocide Joe." .

The demonstration, during which participants waved Palestinian flags, was the largest held in Washington since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7.
