Several mosques have announced the death of Izz al-Din al-Haddad, Hamas' military commander, following an airstrike carried out by Israel in Gaza City.
The attack hit a residential building in the Rimal neighborhood, while a few minutes later Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that the target of the operation was Haddad.
In the official statement, Israeli authorities described him as “the commander of Hamas’s military wing and one of the main architects of the October 7 massacre.” They added that “Al-Haddad was responsible for the killing, kidnapping and harm caused to thousands of Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.”
So far, Hamas has not officially reacted to reports of the death of its military commander, while tensions in Gaza remain high following the Israeli attack.
