Israel withdrew diplomats from Istanbul after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statement accused Netanyahu's government of behaving like "war criminals".
Erdogan made these comments in a speech held in front of thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters in Istanbul.
The BBC says that Israel's foreign minister, Eli Cohen, countered these views by ordering diplomats out of Istanbul.
The head of Israeli diplomacy said that "considering these dangerous comments coming from Turkey, I have ordered the departure of our diplomats to re-evaluate relations between Israel and Turkey."
The President of Turkey, in addition to his speech at the pro-Palestine protest, published a series of comments on the X social network stating that the escalation of the situation in Gaza, targeting civilians as well, is worsening the humanitarian situation.
The President of Turkey says that "Israel must stop the madness of such attacks as soon as possible".
