A shocking video from the Gaza Strip reveals the tragic reality that civilians experience every day, focusing on a young child desperately searching for his loved ones.
The minor Hammoud was captured by a Palestinian photographer searching for his grandparents in the rubble after an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City. The video, published by Al Jazeera, is touching.
With tears in his eyes, Hammoud is heard saying: "I'm looking for my grandparents. I swear, I miss them..."
When the photographer asks where they are, the child points to the garbage and replies in a trembling voice: "There they are...".
He bends over the ruins and tries to move the heavy stones with his hands, while crying bitterly, screaming: "I love my grandfather, I love my grandfather...", refusing to give up hope that he will find them.
The image of little Hammoud has become a symbol of the human tragedy unfolding in Gaza, amidst a relentless scene of violence and destruction.
