"You are the brother I have longed for"/The US Congress seeks
Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

Sarah Ferguson has not been seen in public for months, her absence fuelling speculation about her whereabouts and the possibility of a confessional interview. At the same time, there are growing calls for her to give evidence about her relationship with the late American financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

US lawmakers have repeatedly called for her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, to be held accountable for his ties to Epstein. Now, the same demand is being made of Ferguson.

Congressman Suhas Subramanyam, a member of the House Oversight Committee investigating the handling of Epstein's prosecution, said Ferguson could have information important to the investigation. He stressed that she should testify under oath before the committee.

However, there is no legal mechanism to compel Ferguson to testify in the United States. Subramanyam added that lawmakers are willing to find a suitable way to cooperate, as long as the testimony is given under oath. Ferguson's representatives have not commented on the matter.

The calls have also been supported by Democratic Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury, who appealed to all those who have information about the activities of Epstein and his associates to contribute to uncovering the truth. The family of Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein's most prominent accusers, has also demanded that Ferguson appear in the US to give evidence.

Documents recently released by the US Department of Justice have shed light on Ferguson's relationship with Epstein. The inclusion of the name in these documents does not constitute proof of wrongdoing, but according to media analysis, they suggest a greater closeness than previously made public.

In several published communications, Ferguson appears to be seeking financial and emotional support, at one point even describing Epstein as “the brother she always wanted.” The documents also show that she was in contact with him while he was in prison and that she met him after his release.

Attorney Gloria Allred, who represents some of Epstein's victims, said the developments show Ferguson cannot be considered a victim in this case and that she should testify as soon as possible. Author Andrew Lownie also called her a key witness, highlighting her frequent contact with Epstein.

On the other hand, media lawyer Jonathan Coad expressed his belief that Ferguson will not agree to travel to the US to testify, arguing that such a move would have serious consequences for her and her family.

Recent developments have also affected Ferguson's public image. She has stepped back from several public roles and charitable organizations, while her foundation has announced it is closing indefinitely.

Meanwhile, her whereabouts remain unclear, with reports placing her in various places such as the United Arab Emirates, Portugal or Switzerland. Speculation continues in the media about a possible memoir or interview, but so far there has been no official confirmation.
