Kiev receives US Patriot missiles from Germany, Russia increases drone attacks

US President Donald Trump has claimed that Patriot missiles for Ukraine have already been shipped from Germany, according to Bloomberg. Trump added that he has not spoken to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, since he announced secondary tariffs on Moscow if there is no deal on Ukraine within 50 days. The Trump administration is working on five or six trade deals and could announce two or three before August 1, when reciprocal payments of the tariffs announced in the US president’s letter will begin.

Meanwhile, Russian forces launched nearly 100 attacks on 33 settlements in the Sumy region within 24 hours, causing one casualty in the community of Velykypysarivska, Ukrinform reported, citing the Sumy regional military administration. The highest number of attacks was recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts. The northeastern city of Kharkiv came under intense enemy fire, regional governor Oleh Syniehubov reported, explaining that at least 17 explosions occurred in just 20 minutes.

At least three people were injured in Kharkiv, where a large fire broke out. The city of Kryvyi Rih, in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, was also targeted by a massive strike by 28 Shahed drones. Oleksandr Vikul, head of the city's military administration, reported large-scale power outages and the destruction of an industrial facility. A 17-year-old boy was injured and is hospitalized in serious condition.

Twenty-eight Russian drones targeted the Vinnytsia region (central-western Ukraine), hitting mainly industrial facilities, Natalya Zabolotna, an official with the local military administration, said on Facebook. Seven people were injured, two of whom suffered "severe burns," she added.

As attacks on Ukraine intensify, Russia "calls on everyone" to help Kiev resume direct negotiations and set a new round, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, responding to the Tass news agency about Moscow's possible intervention with its partners to ensure such cooperation.

"We invite everyone to do this. In this case, the main role is played by the mediation efforts of the United States, President Trump and his team. Many statements have been made, many words of disappointment," he explained.

"But of course, we hope that, in parallel, pressure will also be exerted on the Ukrainian side. Because, as I said, at the moment, it seems that all the words of support are interpreted by Kiev not as a sign of peace, but as a sign of war, of the continuation of the war," he added.
