The speaker of Iran's parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, declared on Thursday that around 7 million Iranians are ready to face any possible ground intervention by the United States in the Islamic Republic.
According to statements he published on the social network X, Ghalibaf emphasizes that in less than a week, a national campaign has been carried out that has mobilized millions of citizens. “ Currently, a powerful nationwide campaign has highlighted about 7 million Iranians who have voluntarily come out to take up arms and defend our country ,” he writes.
This campaign has been promoted in recent days on social media, while Ghalibaf is considered the first senior Iranian official to publicly mention this figure. Iran has a population of about 90 million.
The exact source of this number has not been disclosed. However, state media and SMS messages have encouraged citizens to register as volunteers for the front. Authorities have also called for retired military personnel to participate, while the paramilitary Basij force has begun accepting new members, including minors as young as 12.
