Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned that Donald Trump's repeated threats to dismantle NATO, the prospect of a "massive" energy crisis in Europe, and Viktor Orbán's moves to block aid and funds for Ukraine all look like "Putin's dream plan."
"The threat of NATO disintegration, the easing of sanctions on Russia, a massive energy crisis in Europe, the halting of aid to Ukraine and the blocking of loans to Kiev by Orbán, all look like Putin's dream plan," Tusk wrote in a post on social media in English.
Earlier this week, Tusk harshly criticized Viktor Orbán and his Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, following media reports alluding to the Hungarian government's close relations with Russia.
President Donald Trump says he is seriously considering withdrawing the US from NATO
We remind you that US President Donald Trump, speaking to the British newspaper The Telegraph, has threatened to leave NATO.
“Oh yes, I would say it’s beyond reconsideration,” he said. “I was never convinced by NATO. I always knew they were a paper tiger, and Putin knows that, by the way.”
Trump has frequently criticized NATO allies for their lack of support in the war, calling them "cowards" for their refusal to send troops to the Strait of Hormuz.
He repeated these complaints to The Telegraph, claiming that support “should be automatic” and drawing a comparison between the war against Iran and Russia’s war against Ukraine.
