Acting head of Hezbollah warns Netanyahu: We have new attack tactics, separate

The deputy head of Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, has warned Israel that "the only solution to the current war in Lebanon is a ceasefire", while adding that his group, which is also supported by Iran, will not be defeated.

"Since the Israeli enemy has targeted all of Lebanon, we have the right from a defensive position to target any part of Israel, be it the center, the north or the south. A new formula has been created with which we hit Tel Aviv and Haifa and everything beyond Haifa, as Nasrallah ultimately wanted ," Kassem said.

Qassem emphasized that the resistance will not be defeated because this is its land. The deputy head of Hezbollah said that Hezbollah has adopted new methods to make Israel feel "pain", while also adding that the organization has been asked to stop fighting, but they are not ready to separate Lebanon from the war in Gaza.

"Israel is committing crimes and this requires us to take a stand," Kassem said, adding that "we will stop fighting only if there is a ceasefire in Gaza as well."

What is the new 'calculation'?

New tactics used by Hezbollah, observed by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in its missile and drone campaign against Israel, show that in order to get its missiles and drones past its defenses, Hezbollah has begun using "fire indirectly".

He cited examples where Hezbollah launched a combination of attack drones, rockets and precision missiles on one city while simultaneously launching other attacks elsewhere.

This tactic, where "inaccurate indirect fire" is used to mask precision strikes elsewhere, is becoming more common among Iranian proxy groups, the ISW reported.

"The development of this tactic is a byproduct of Hezbollah's year-long learning process during its fire campaign targeting civilian and military facilities in northern Israel since October 2023 ," he said.
