Israel enjoys the support of the US on the international stage, but cracks between the two countries are beginning to appear.
This is clearly seen in the statement of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who said that his government and that of the US have different ideas about what the end of the current war can bring to the governance of Gaza.
" There is a dispute [with the US] when it comes to the future of Hamas, and I hope we will reach an agreement here as well. I will not allow Israel to repeat the mistake of Oslo. It cannot happen that after the great sacrifice of our citizens and fighters, we will allow in Gaza those who teach terror, support terror, finance terror ," Netanyahu was quoted as saying.
Recall that the Oslo accords of 1993 saw Israel agree that the Palestinian people had the right to self-determination, although they did not create a final Palestinian state.
