With 65 votes in favor and 3 against, the deputies in North Macedonia voted for the technical government in North Macedonia headed by Talat Xhaferin.
This makes Talat Xhafer, the first Albanian elected prime minister in North Macedonia.
The technical government will be in operation 100 days.
VMRO-DPMNE deputies, although they were in the hall, as they warned, did not vote for the technical government, while the Albanian opposition deputies were not present in the hall.
In his speech to the deputies before the vote, Xhaferi, after submitting the list of his government cabinet, declared that his technical government will focus on strategic and state priorities.
"The government of the Republic of North Macedonia in the period until the election of the next political government will focus on its concrete strategic and state priorities. In relation to the high priority of the government which is the preparation and organization of free, 'fair' and democratic elections, the government in a direct, transparent and legal procedure and in cooperation with the Assembly, the State Election Commission and the mission of OSCE/ODIHR, EU and USA will implement all the legal, institutional, organizational and operational prerequisites for the implementation of the clear will of the citizens aiming to enable the highest European standards in the process of the election campaign and the elections themselves to be held with complete legality, consensuality and consensual acceptance of the electoral will of the citizens", said Xhaferi before the deputies present.
Xhaferi succeeds Dimitar Kovačevski as Prime Minister, who resigned based on the Law on Elections, which stipulates that in 100 days before the elections, a technical Government will be elected, which has a mandate for the organization and smooth running of the election process.
The parliamentary elections in North Macedonia will be held on May 8, together with the presidential elections.
The Macedonian opposition party, VMRO DPMNE, will also be part of the technical Government, which will lead the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. In the technical executive, this party will also have three deputy prime ministers, with special powers.
There will be no changes in other ministerial posts. The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI), the Social Democratic League (LSDM) and the Alliance for Albanians will continue to lead the ministries they currently lead./ Pamphlet
