The plenary session is taking place in the Assembly of North Macedonia where it is expected to vote for the Prime Minister of the technical government. With 66 votes in favor, the agenda was voted with a single point, that of the election of the new technical Government with Prime Minister Talat Xhaferin.
The Albanian opposition will not participate in today's session under the reasoning that it is not allowed to have a member in the State Electoral Commission (SEC), while the Macedonian opposition, although it will be present in the Assembly, will not vote for the new Government.
Talat Xhaferi, who published his government cabinet with the ministers proposed by the coalition parties, addressed the deputies first. He said that the focus of his government will be the strategic and state priorities, among which is the organization of the elections on May 8.
"The government of the Republic of North Macedonia in the period until the election of the next political government will focus on its concrete strategic and state priorities. In relation to the high priority of the government which is the preparation and organization of free, 'fair' and democratic elections, the government in a direct, transparent and legal procedure and in cooperation with the Assembly, the State Election Commission and the mission of OSCE/ODIHR, EU and USA will implement all the legal, institutional, organizational and operational prerequisites for the implementation of the clear will of the citizens aiming to enable the highest European standards in the process of the election campaign and the elections themselves to be held with complete legality, consensuality and consensual acceptance of the electoral will of the citizens", said Xhaferi before the deputies present.
Afterwards, other members of the Assembly of North Macedonia will also speak.
We remind you that Talat Xhaferi will succeed Dimitar Kocačevski in this position and, according to the law, he will have a mandate of 100 days. The focus of the government will be the organization and smooth running of the election process on May 8, where in addition to the parliamentary elections, the presidential ones will also take place.
