Bad news is coming from the US. Donald Trump's administration is eliminating more than 90% of USAID's foreign aid contracts and $60 billion in overall US aid worldwide.
Massive cuts would leave only a few USAID projects to continue.
In total, the Trump administration said it would eliminate 5,800 of USAID's 6,200 multi-year contracts, for a $54 billion cut. Another 4,100 of the State Department's 9,100 grants are being eliminated, for a $4.4 billion cut.
Donald Trump and Elon Musk have initiated the closure of USAID, as they say the agency has wasted American taxpayer money by advancing liberal agendas.
On January 20, Trump ordered a 90-day review of the aid program and cut off funding almost overnight.
The funding freeze has halted thousands of US-funded programs abroad, as the administration and Musk's government efficiency teams have removed most of USAID's staff through forced layoffs and layoffs.
