French President Emmanuel Macron has reacted to the Israel-Iran war. He said that the military escalation poses a serious threat to global peace and must be stopped immediately.
In a message published on the X platform, Macron said that the outbreak of the conflict "carries serious consequences for international peace and security", while emphasizing that: "Continued escalation is dangerous for everyone. It must stop."
Macron urged the Iranian regime to engage "without alternatives" in good faith negotiations to stop its nuclear and ballistic programs, as well as actions that, in his opinion, destabilize the region.
"This is absolutely essential for the security of everyone in the Middle East, " he declared.
The French president also said that the Iranian people should be able to freely build their future, adding that the recent "massacres" committed by the regime discredit it and calling for "the voice to be restored to the people, the sooner the better."
Macron also called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the situation, while emphasizing that France is ready to mobilize resources to protect its partners, if requested, and that all measures are being taken for the safety of French citizens.
His statement comes at a time of high international tension, as conflicts and threats in the Middle East are taking on increasingly wider proportions.
