French President Emmanuel Macron has underlined the role that Europe must play vis-à-vis the US, China and Russia against the backdrop of geopolitical developments.
Macron stated that the US, China and Russia are all against Europe, for this reason, he added, Europe must gain confidence and begin its recovery.
"Let's not underestimate the importance of the moment. The American president, the Russian president, the Chinese president, they are all against Europe. It's a 'bell'. Let's gain confidence in Europe. I disagree about Ukraine. When the war started, many doubted our ability to react. However, from day one we imposed sanctions on Russia. And Russia is suffering. We did this from day one. Since then we have imposed 20 packages of sanctions. We have a nuclear power near our borders. We are the number 1 investor, Ukraine is defending itself much more effectively than they expected. And that is why it has not collapsed - it has even regained territory ," Macron told Greek journalist Alexis Papachelas.
