New York City's new mayor, Zohraan Mamdani, has strongly criticized the US military action in Venezuela, where the country's president, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife were arrested. Maduro and his wife are expected to be transferred to New York to face federal charges, but according to Mamdani, this action is unacceptable.

I was briefed this morning on the capture by the US military of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, as well as their planned incarceration in a federal facility here in New York City.
A unilateral attack on a sovereign state is an act of war and a violation of federal and international law.
