The deal with Israel, who are the Palestinian prisoners expected to be released?

Dozens of Palestinian women and teenagers imprisoned by Israel will be released in exchange for the release of 50 Israeli hostages. Most of those 150 people will return home to the West Bank and Jerusalem, after periods of imprisonment ranging from several months to several years.

Many of them were held in administrative detention, meaning without trial. They were arrested for offenses including attempted stabbing, throwing stones at Israeli soldiers or contacting hostile organizations.

But none of them have been convicted of killing Israelis, unlike previous prisoner exchanges. A list of 300 Palestinian prisoners who may be released has been released by Israel.

Sky News has analyzed the list and found the list of people to be released:

-There are 124 prisoners aged 17 and under, with 11 of them 14 or 15 years old;

- The youngest children on the list are 14 years old, the oldest person is a 59-year-old man;

-About 10% are listed as women, with the youngest of the 33 females listed as 15 years old - her offense is listed as "attempted murder, support for terrorism, crimes against justice";

-There are 117 people, including the 15-year-old girl, who have "attempted murder" mentioned in the deeds registered next to their names;

- Other offenses include "throwing stones", with 74 people accused of this;

-There are 49 people on the list connected to Hamas.

The agreement brings about a change in the atmosphere of the war

"The release of a number of our prisoners during the war is a very important thing," said Qadura Fares, head of the Palestinian Authority's Commission on Prisoners' Affairs.

"This agreement could be a start to change the overall atmosphere of this war. The resistance did not call this agreement an exchange agreement, but it is a ceasefire and ceasefire agreement," he said.

For Fares, the main importance of the agreement was as a step towards ending hostilities. The Palestinian Authority lost control of Gaza during a 2007 power struggle with Hamas, but it considers the territory part of a future Palestinian state that includes the West Bank with East Jerusalem as its capital./SkyNews
