Russia-Ukraine prisoner exchange agreement, 230 Russians arrive in Belarus

Russia and Ukraine announced today that they have exchanged 230 prisoners of war, including Russian soldiers captured during the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region.

"After a negotiation process, 115 Russian soldiers captured in the Kursk region left the territories controlled by the Kiev regime. In exchange, 115 prisoners of the Ukrainian armed forces were released," the Russian Ministry of Defense announced.

The ministry clarified that Russian soldiers are already in Belarus.

"Today another 115 of our defenders have returned to their homes", confirmed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, while thanking the United Arab Emirates for acting as a mediator to reach this agreement.

This exchange of prisoners, like many previous ones, was achieved thanks to the mediation of the Emirates, which said that they are "a reliable mediator in support of diplomacy to resolve the crisis between the two countries".

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Emirates pledged to "continue every effort and every initiative aimed at finding a peaceful solution", considering "de-escalation" as "the only means to resolve the conflict" between Russia and Ukraine.
