The Israeli attack on al-Ahli hospital in Gaza City is Israel's deadliest airstrike in five wars since 2008, the Palestinian Civil Defense says.

According to reports, 500 people are suspected to have been killed. "The massacre at Arab al-Ahli Hospital is unprecedented in our history. While we have witnessed tragedies in past wars and days, what happened tonight is tantamount to a genocide," said spokesman Mahmoud Basal.

Meanwhile, the President of the Palestinian Authority (PA) Mahmoud Abbas has announced three days of mourning after the Israeli airstrikes on the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza, reports the official WAFA agency.

Various political factions have also called on Palestinians in the West Bank to observe a commercial strike on Wednesday to protest the deadly Israeli attack on the hospital.
