The Romanian Foreign Ministry has summoned the head of the Russian mission in the country to demand answers on how the remains of a Russian drone ended up in Romania.
Romanian government minister Iulian Fota said he was unhappy about the apparent violation of Romania's airspace after the wreckage of the downed drone was found near its border with Ukraine.
In an announcement from the Bucharest government, it was said that the minister asked the Russian government to stop hostile actions against Romania.
" Fota firmly asked the Russian side to cease actions against the Ukrainian population and infrastructure, including those that would in any way threaten the safety and security of Romanian citizens in the region ," the announcement said.
The last remains were discovered on Saturday and after the expertise developed it was proved that they were Russian drones. Finding them in Romanian territory is a violation of the security of a NATO country. Such actions could provoke a reaction from the Alliance which could lead to a new World War.
