Oz Perlman, the famous American magician and performer, has recounted the anxiety he felt at the moment of the shooting on Saturday night at the Washington Correspondents' Dinner, which was attended by President Donald Trump.
He told Le Parisien newspaper that he was performing a trick for Donald and Melania Trump, as well as the White House press secretary, when shots were heard at the hotel entrance.
"At first you don't understand what's happening. Then I saw all the security teams running into the room, all in the same direction. That's when I realized it was something different. I thought: Oh my God, are we going to die," he said.

Fearing even the possibility of a bomb, Perlman fell to the floor and found himself next to Donald Trump.
As he described it, Trump tried to get up and move, but security agents fell on him and forcibly immobilized him.
"He started to get up and move, and then the agents fell on him and threw him down with great force. That's when I realized it wasn't something simple ," he said.
A little later, he reported, Vice President JD Vance reassured them of the situation.
"He came to us very calmly and told us that the president was fine and that the perpetrator had been arrested," he noted.
When he returned home, Perlman was with his children and expressed relief.
"It's incredible to be home," he said.
