The four astronauts of the Artemis II mission have recounted for the first time their experience after returning from a 10-day trip around the Moon, making history as the people who have traveled the furthest from Earth.
In a special ceremony hosted by NASA at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen were greeted with enthusiasm and applause from the audience.
During this mission, the crew reached a distance of approximately 406,771 kilometers from Earth, setting a new record in space exploration.
The astronauts also shared the emotions and challenges they experienced during this experience. Christina Koch, the only woman on the crew, singled out a moment that had deeply touched her.
"People asked us what our impression was. It wasn't just the Earth that shocked me, but the endless darkness around it. It seemed like our planet was a ship suspended in the universe ," she said.
The Artemis II mission is considered an important step towards returning humans to the Moon and beyond, marking a new phase in space exploration.
