Russia apparently plans to cause a food crisis again this summer. This is after the Russian leadership has decided not to extend the Black Sea grain agreement.
The agreement ensures that three Ukrainian ports can continue exporting food without fear of a blockade by Russian ships in the Black Sea, but it expires on July 17 and Russia is not seeking to renew it.
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the West's "brutal" actions over the deal, which was brokered by the United Nations and Turkey, meant Russian interest in extending the deal for a fourth time had failed.
" I don't see what arguments there can be from those who want to continue the initiative of the Black Sea ", said Mr. Lavrov.
The foreign minister sought to reassure the world's poorest countries, saying Russia would continue to provide them with food "at our expense, free of charge".
