Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei "has decided that his successor as God's representative on earth, leader of the Shiite community and supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, will be his son, Mojtaba Khamenei."
This decision by the Supreme Leader of Iran was announced by the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad in a message on the "X" account, calling Ali Khamenei a "sick and exhausted leader."
"The same leader who opposed the monarchy and the transfer of power from father to son has now transferred power to his son," Mossad says, adding that "now that we have revealed this decision to you, our loyal viewers, perhaps the sick leader will change his mind. Let's wait and see."
On June 21, the American newspaper “New York Times”, citing official Iranian sources, reported that Khamenei had selected three senior clerics as possible successors in the event of his assassination. During the 12-day war between Israel and Iran, which ended on June 24 with a ceasefire declared by the United States, Khamenei took refuge in a bunker to protect himself from Israeli attacks and reportedly suspended all electronic communications, communicating only through an intermediary.
According to what was reported by the New York Times, the Iranian supreme leader has instructed the Assembly of Experts to proceed quickly with the appointment of a successor, choosing from among the three names indicated, in order to guarantee an orderly transition and preserve the stability of the regime.
Contrary to what was reported today by Mossad, his son Mojtaba was not on the list.
