NATO closes the door to Ukraine: At the next summit we will not talk about Kyiv's membership

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, in a joint conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, said that Ukraine's membership in the alliance will not be discussed at the Alliance summit in Vilnius (July 11 and 12).

"What we are discussing is how to bring Ukraine closer to NATO. There are ongoing consultations and I cannot prejudge their outcome", said Stoltenberg.

He went on to say that NATO's doors are open, as the Alliance showed with the invitation to Finland and Sweden.

The NATO Secretary General added that what has been said since 2008 will be implemented, that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance, noting that it is up to the allies to decide when is the right time and the right of veto for NATO decisions do not belong to Russia.

During the joint conference, they stated that support for Ukraine will continue and emphasized that NATO is not involved in the war.
