Donald Trump's former national security adviser, John Bolton, said Trump is being manipulated by Putin. He said Donald Trump "doesn't make plans" and that will be no different as he tries to negotiate peace.
"What we're seeing now is Vladimir Putin maneuvering to get to the point where he has a phone conversation with Trump," Bolton said.
Asked if he thought the Russian president was manipulating Trump, Bolton said: “I think so.” “If you look at the American stance on the war, the only regret in the Kremlin is that they didn’t ask for more,” he said.
John Bolton also said that this leaves Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a difficult position for the US to negotiate with him and then negotiate separately with Russia.
But asked if Trump could be hiding a plan that we are all unaware of as he tries to secure peace, Bolton said: “No, of course not.” “He doesn’t make plans. He thinks that relations between countries are the true equivalent of personal relations between leaders ,” the former National Security Adviser declared.
Bolton added that while Trump is looking forward to his phone call with Putin, he explained that "that's not Putin's view" and that the Russian president sees Trump 'as easy.'
