Russian President Volodymyr Putin said the situation has started to move after talks with the US as he responds to Trump's plea.
As US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to the media at the G7 meeting in Canada, Vladimir Putin also spoke.
He says the situation has started to move after talks with Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, in Moscow, while saying "let's see what comes of it."
Putin also addressed Trump's request to spare the lives of Ukrainian troops. In a post on Truth Social, the US president said that "I have strongly asked President Putin to spare his life."
"This would be a horrific massacre, unseen since World War II," he said.
Responding to Trump's comments, Putin called on Ukrainian authorities to order their soldiers to surrender.
He stated that if they surrender, Russia will guarantee that their lives will be spared.
As mentioned earlier, Ukraine has said that claims that its troops are surrounded in Kursk are untrue.
