Netanyahu open to peace in Gaza, but demands full Hamas surrender

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was willing to consider a deal that would halt military operations in the Gaza Strip, but only if Hamas surrenders and completely disarms.

This statement comes at a time when the Israeli army's air and ground attacks on Gaza have intensified significantly, causing heavy civilian casualties.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 464 Palestinians were killed and 1,418 injured, most of them women and children, between May 11 and 17. These shocking figures have sparked strong reactions from the international community, which condemns the violence and calls for an immediate solution to stop the bloodshed.

In a statement from his office, Netanyahu stressed that any agreement must include the removal of Hamas and the complete disarmament of the Palestinian enclave.

" The negotiating team in Doha is trying to seize every opportunity to reach an agreement, whether according to the plan proposed by American mediator Steve Witkoff, or within a broader framework that includes the release of all hostages, the expulsion of Hamas and the disarmament of Gaza ," the official statement said.

However, a senior Israeli official acknowledged that progress in the talks is still minimal, leaving the scenario of continued violence in the region open. Meanwhile, the international community continues to call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a peaceful solution that respects the rights of all parties involved.
