"Netanyahu is acting according to political interests", the former

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said today could be the worst day for Israel since the October 7 attacks.

Olmert was Israel's 12th prime minister from 2006 to 2009. In an interview with Sky News, he said he worries there will be no hostages left alive if Benjamin Netanyahu waits until Hamas is completely eliminated.

Israel has vowed since October 7 to destroy Hamas so that it no longer poses a threat. But former Israeli Prime Minister Olmert says this is now a problem.

"As someone who has been in this position, I can say that sometimes the ultimate responsibility of the leader is to take chances that may not be popular with his political base, but is the right decision at the right time for the national interest of the country ", he said.

"This is the dilemma facing Netanyahu, and for a long period of time since October 7 he has preferred his personal, political considerations. By the time Netanyahu feels that the elimination of Hamas is complete, we may not have any hostages alive. This is the problem," added the former leader of Israel.
