During his visit to the joint US-Israeli headquarters of the multinational force overseeing the ceasefire in Gaza, in the city of Kiryat Gat, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that his government's goal is to disarm Hamas and demilitarize the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu said that this objective, which he said was also agreed upon with US President Donald Trump and other partners, must be achieved:
"We want to make sure that the goal that we agreed to with President Trump, with the consensus of others, namely the disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of Gaza, will be achieved," he said.
The Prime Minister added that the process is progressing gradually as part of a broad plan implemented in cooperation with the United States and other partners.
"Today there is a real joint effort, with which we ensure that our security remains in our own hands, in order to achieve results that perhaps no one believed we could achieve, but we are determined to try," Netanyahu said.
Referring to President Trump's words, Netanyahu quoted the American's simple message: "President Trump made it clear: we will do it, either the easy way, as we hope, or the hard way. But we will achieve what we are determined to achieve."
