New York Times: There is evidence to prove that the Kakhovka dam was destroyed

The American newspaper "New York Times" writes that there are witnesses who show that the Kakhovka dam that caused major floods in Ukraine was destroyed by Russia.

Citing engineers and experts, according to the New York Times there is evidence that an explosive charge was placed in a passage through the concrete base. "Evidence clearly suggests that the dam was crippled by an explosion caused by the party that controls it: Russia," the article said.

The Kremlin has accused Kiev of sabotaging the hydroelectric dam and cutting off a key source of water for Crimea. According to the Kremlin, another reason is to divert attention from the Ukrainian counter-offensive.

On the other hand, Ukraine accuses Russia of collapsing the dam, under Russian control since the first days of its occupation in 2022, thus causing floods that destroyed agricultural lands and cut off the water supply to citizens in the area.
