US President Joe Biden has been harsh regarding Ukraine's membership in NATO, declaring that his administration will not "make it easy" to join the North Atlantic Alliance.
Biden is taking this stance because the war-torn nation must meet the same standards as other member states.
" I will not make it easier for Ukraine to join NATO because they have to do the same, so I will not make it easier, I think they have done everything that is related, they have demonstrated, very coordinated military capability, but there is one issue whether their systems are secure. I think it will be able to meet the standards that every other nation does for NATO ," said Joe Biden-president of the USA.
This decision comes before NATO leaders meet in Lithuania next month. In a symbolic step, alliance leaders are aiming to hold a first NATO-Ukraine Council session with President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, alliance chief Jens Stoltenberg said in Brussels on Friday.
