From politicians and businessmen to Nobel Prize winners; documents reveal people

Shocking details have come to light after the release of the third set of documents related to the lawsuit against Jeffrey Epstein.

The pedophile died in prison before facing trial on federal charges of sexual abuse and human trafficking, CNN reports.

The unsealed documents are part of a 2015 civil defamation lawsuit filed by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, an American woman who alleged that Epstein sexually abused her when she was a minor and that Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's ex-girlfriend, helped her the latter.

This week's disclosure stems from a Dec. 18 court order by the judge overseeing the lawsuit, a response to the media's legal efforts to release the documents.

The documents in total, including material that has not yet been declassified, are expected to include about 200 names, including some of Epstein's accusers, prominent businessmen or politicians.

Famous friends and acquaintances

A former employee of Jeffrey Epstein named a series of famous and influential people, including two former presidents, during a 2009 deposition unsealed Friday.

Juan Alessi told lawyers he had dinner with former President Donald Trump in the kitchen of Epstein's Palm Beach home and met with former President Bill Clinton on Epstein's plane. He also said he met Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, at the Palm Beach home, according to the deposition.

According to the document, Alessi also said he met beauty pageant winners and an unidentified winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

When asked Wednesday about Clinton's name appearing in an earlier set of unsealed documents, a Clinton spokesman repeated a 2019 statement that Clinton had flown on Epstein's private jet, but said Clinton knew nothing about the "crimes." terrible" of him.

The spokesman said that it is now "nearly 20 years since President Clinton last had contact with Epstein." Clinton has not been charged with any crime in connection with Epstein.

Trump has also not been charged with any crime in connection with Epstein. When asked earlier this week about Trump's name appearing in the newly-sealed documents, a Trump spokesman responded by attacking the media.

Alessi answered questions about a woman he understood to be under the age of 18. Her name was redacted from the unsealed documents. Alessi said her mother would occasionally accompany her to Epstein's house. In terms of pay, "everyone was getting $100 an hour," Alessi said.

Famous magician and illusionist David Copperfield is also among the high-profile people identified as friends of Epstein. Copperfield's name is mentioned during deposition testimony released Friday by one of Epstein's then-employees, Sarah Kellen.

A lawyer for the plaintiffs asked about Epstein's relationship with the magician and whether they recruited girls. The lawyer asked if Copperfield gave Epstein tickets for the young girls when he performed shows and if the girls were invited backstage after the shows.

To all questions, Kellen asserts her Fifth Amendment right and refuses to answer the question.

Copperfield is also mentioned in a 2016 document released Wednesday by a woman who massaged Epstein for years in the early 2000s. She said she met the magician at a dinner party at Epstein's Palm Beach mansion and testified that from her observation they the two were friends.

Johanna Sjoberg testified that Copperfield performed magic tricks while he was at Palm Beach House and asked him what he knew about Epstein's methods of buying girls to work for him.

"He asked me if I was aware that girls were paid to find other girls," Sjoberg said.

Copperfield did not provide details at the time, Sjoberg said.

She also said there was another girl in the house who "looked young" at a dinner that included Copperfield. She recalled thinking at the time that the girl might have been in high school.

CNN has reached out to Copperfield's representatives for comment.

Mogul Harvey Weinstein's name appears in a 2005 handwritten note also left for Epstein.

The handwritten note, dated March 1, 2005, appears to be a phone message left for Epstein that Weinstein attempted to call Epstein that morning.

"She had Mr. Harvey Weinstein on the phone," the message says. He was involved in about 200 text messages.
